John Parsons

Rosemaries for Memories

I first met James while I was working as printer and editor with Brian Coffey. I believe that he was fresh over from Ireland and working for the National Health Service. We published some of James’s poetry. Not long after that, I also repaired an old black roadster bicycle for him, which we called the May Day Raleigh.

Since then we have always remained in contact, largely involving poetry, I’ve always admired his work, and with Sandra Hill was privileged to publish his brilliant book of poems, Rosemaries.

I now sadly miss him. Since his retirement to the South of France, our main contact has been through his Augustus Young Webzine, always something to look forward to, in a literary, informative and often humorous sense.
